In the Futurist eyes, old Italian art was not only too strict, but was also lifeless. This Manifesto was the first manifesto to propose the specifics on how to change Italian art; they wished to rebuild art by using new materials such as metal, fabrics, glasses and liquids. This Manifesto is a call for abstractness in art.
