Futurismo! The Italian Avant-Garde and its Cultural Impact

During Fall 2019, Professor Lucchi’s Italian Culture class at CUNY’s Queens College studied Futurism and its relationship with typography, advertising, technology, and politics.

The course’s capstone project was a documentary exhibition on Futurism, comprising 50 original historical documents and artworks such as futurist manifestos, posters, books, journals, words-in-freedom poems, and more.

The students chose the works on display, wrote catalog essays, the descriptive material accompanying the exhibition, and created this companion website.

You can visit the exhibition at Queens College’s Rosenthal Library, Barham Rotunda, from November 19, 2019 to January 24, 2020.

Queens College gratefully acknowledges The Merrill C. Berman Collection, Rye, NY, for the generous loan of original artworks and materials.
